Cost of repairing a watch?

Watchmaker costs

Are you curious about the rates for having your watch repaired by an expert watchmaker? The exact costs for watch repair (in addition to the usual repairs) are often difficult to determine to the euro and usually only become clear during the inspection or when the service is carried out.

For an inspection I charge a fee of €25,-, which will be waived if a service/repair is purchased.

Several factors that influence price include brand, part type, age, availability of parts, and wear and tear on parts.

Therefore, the prices below usually serve as guide prices or starting prices. This also makes it clear that, for example, a clock service cannot be performed for a few tens of euros. In order to do this properly, a lot of knowledge, skills and expensive equipment are needed.

If you would like more information or would like to make a request, please fill out the contact form or send a message via WhatsApp.

Guarantee

  • In case of partial repairs, a 12-month warranty is given on the replaced part (if new), not on the functioning of the movement, donor parts are excluded from the warranty as they have already been used. (No warranty is given on spring breakage)
  • When replacing the battery, there is a 12-month warranty on the operation of the battery, provided that the measured values are correct, but not on the operation of the watch.
  • In the case of a complete overhaul of modern timepieces, where all parts are available new and wear parts have been replaced, a 12-month guarantee applies to the functioning of the timepiece. (except for spring breakage)
  • An exception applies to revisions of vintage watches: with a complete revision, no guarantee is given on the functioning of the watch, since it is restored to its best functioning during the revision - not to new, since parts are no longer available new. It is namely impossible to predict what and when something will break in the watch.
  • There is no guarantee of water resistance, not even when the watch has been tested water resistant, as this is a snapshot. You can assume that the watch is water resistant after a positive test, but this is entirely at your own risk. It is advisable to have this tested annually.
  • No warranty on problems caused by yourself, such as: impact/fall/moisture damage.
